Coming into the second half of 2010 I am thrilled with the positive things that are happening within the life of our church. It is wonderful to see how we are moving as a church towards the vision and destiny that God has for us.
Each week we are having new people walk through our doors, sharing how they have been impacted by the power of God in our church services! Praise God!

We recently had a new peoples lunch to welcome those who have joined our church this past 6 months. It warms my heart to see how God is bringing people into our church with the same passion and vision– to see the realities of Gods power manifest in peoples lives!

It is great to see people finding Jesus and being baptised. In the past 3 months we have had two baptism services, with more to come– this is a sign that God is impacting peoples lives! I love watching the growth and enthusiasm of those who have more recently given their lives to Jesus– and it reminds me once more, how people need Jesus!

It was very encouraging to hear at our recent Missions Sunday how many missionaries we are supporting. Showing us once again how God will shoot many fiery arrows from our church to touch people around the world with the Good News.
Each week I am hearing new testimonies of people experiencing the healing power of God; from the common cold to neck pain and conditions that have plagued people for many years.

“Arise, shine for the light has come.” So church, continue to rise and shine, for the glory of God is seen upon you. YOU and I are the church, whether it be at our workplace, at home or in the shopping centre. We are to continue to reflect and show people the realities of a God that has power to heal, power to save, power even for the impossible!

I must confess to you all…we expected the Curry Blake Divine Healing Seminar to be great, but we were all overwhelmed by the response we had from across Australia. We had people attending from Wagga Wagga, Tasmania, Queensland, Perth, South Australia and even New Zealand. It got to a point that in the final two weeks before the seminar we were having to apologise to people as we could no longer take registrations, as we had reached maximum
capacity for the building.

What a privilege as a church for us to bless so many people and churches. I was overwhelmed by the numbers of people who came and thanked me personally for the role our church played in hosting the event. I must thank all those who volunteered from our church, many of those who were seconded at the event as we needed as many hands on deck as we could.

As those who attended know, by the final night– the Saturday Healing Meeting, we were having to do video link ups to an overflow room and make use of the foyer, with many people lining the walls. It really hit home to me once again, how many Christians and people out there in the community are sick. Curry Blake said that whenever he visits church congregations, up to 90% of the people in the congregation indicate that they are unwell. As I have shared before in 1997, God dramatically caused me to feel the sorrow of Gods heart when
he showed me a vision of crowds of people bandaged, bruised and sick. And how I wept like I have never wept before, at what God told me, was a picture of the church. I see why we must continue to pursue the vision God has given us to believe when Jesus said– “heal the sick, raise the dead– freely you have received, now freely give.” The Great Commission is not just preaching, but doing the work of the Kingdom and setting people free.

It has been great to hear the many testimonies coming in to the church office, of not only of people being healed themselves, but even stories of those who attended the seminar going out and praying for others on the streets and seeing people healed and saved. We are doing our best to follow up these testimonies and I will make sure we share these as they come to hand and are verified. If you yourself have any testimonies please speak to me or contact the church office.

I can definitely say that this seminar has stirred many people in doing the work of the Kingdom, and I encourage you go online to our church website and listen to the Seminar recordings. Curry Blake’s teachings on healing really do challenge us as believers to live out the Gospel message. I trust that you will be able to attend the next Curry Blake seminar when he returns in November.

At the end of March we had our Church Family Camp- ‘Camp Miracle’. It was a great time together, & we were really encouraged from the teaching of our guest speaker- Simon Betschel. Both young & old got their cooking aprons on to face off in the DCC Masterchef Competition. It was great to see & taste everyone’s culinary delights. Congratulations once again to the winning team, who we must say presented to the judges an amazing pizza in the Masterchef Master Class, & a delicious Sunday morning bacon and egg breakfast!

It was great to have our Sunday church service up at the camp, & it was particulary special as we baptised both Brodie Lyte and Kieran Johns in the lake and got to hear why they have decided to follow Jesus. It was a first for Jude and myself to baptise people, which will be a special camp memory. (I know there are several more people wanting to get baptised soon, so if you are interested in getting baptised please speak to me).

As you know Pastor Seka really encouraged those attending the camp to believe for a miracle, and I have been encouraged by hearing some stories from individuals of God’s goodness in those areas they were believing to see a breakthrough in. Simon’s teaching sessions reminded us about who we are in Christ, and how the Christian life is all about Jesus and His finished work! So while the rest of the world might think it is crazy that we believe in the unseen (people to be healed, lives to be transformed etc) – we do, because that same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives inside both you and me!

Coming from a more traditional church background I have always had such a confidence that the Word of God is true. The more I read the gospels and what Jesus has told us as believers to do, I am convinced that just as my soul is saved in faith, so to is His every promise true! (A good
time to say ‘Amen!’) That is why we as a church are immovable on praying for the sick and seeing them healed, giving generously knowing our God provides, preaching the gospel and seeing lives completely transformed. Because His Word is true!

As you know the Curry Blake Divine Healing Training is coming up in May and I know Pastor Seka, like myself would love to see you there. We would all agree that the Word of God is true, and that our God is a God who heals– but often that is as far as it goes. If we are going as far as to admit those things, which seems foolish to the world– then we only do ourselves and those around us a disservice to not understand why we believe this. I have listened to Blake’s teachings regarding healing in the atonement and know you will be equipped by this teaching…I was going to write ’you will be blessed by this teaching’- but we are ALREADY blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. It is not that we need anyone else’s anointing or touch– but we do need to be equipped in the Word. So I am not encouraging you to go for your own sake, but for those who come into your life sick and needing to hear the Good News of JESUS!

There has been a real sense of excitement for the start of this year for me personally, with the Divine Healing Training coming up in February and our church ‘Miracle Camp’ in March. What a start to 2010 with an inspiring Leaders Meeting in January. Our guest speaker, Pastor Phil, really reinforced for me once more that God has an exciting future for us and our church. I personally had such revelations from what He shared and it gave me a taste of what we are all going to experience this year. I will be sharing these revelations with you all in my preaching throughout this first term. The leaders meeting was a wonderful opportunity to get together with those who lead and serve in our church, it was great to have some new faces, and I sensed a real unity in purpose. It was a great time for all those who came along and I know God will continue to equip each one of us for the purposes He has for our church.

As I shared many times last year, as Christians we need to know who we are and what God what position we hold in Christ. I have been encouraged as I speak with other ministers to find that God is really challenging His church in knowing who we are. We are people that live by faith– and because of Jesus work on the cross we are now called the children of Abraham– in that, what God promised to Abraham is also His promise to us– ‘I will bless you so that all the nations will be blessed through you’. This understanding that Abraham started at the place of blessing before he blessed the nations. He never earned it, in fact he was unable, the Word says that his body was as dead– that there was no way of him producing children, let alone being the father of many nations. It was not until this point that God said, I Am God Almighty– the All Sufficient, the God of Enough.

What good news this is for us- as we too get to the end of ourselves, our own ability and know how. That is where God takes over. He is the God Almighty, the one who will make a way. Through Christ we have EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING, freely we received, so we freely give. In Christ we start of at that point of blessing– the Lord has declared that we are a blessed people, in every way because of what Christ did, the full atoning work of the cross– health , prosperity, freedom– and it is from that place that we stand and we give to others.

Very late last year– I asked you– ‘What are you doing with your inheritance? Again, I challenge you church, do you know who you are in Christ? And what are you doing with that knowledge?

Take every opportunity this year to allow God to speak to you, and build you up.

Curry Blake DHT Seminar Postponed

I am sorry to have to inform you that today we have been informed by Curry Blake’s Australian representative that Curry has had to reluctantly cancel all the Australian meetings. This was due to unforeseen circumstances that were unknown until last week and cannot be resolved in time. I can tell you that it is Curry’s intention to return to Australia before mid-year. We will post any re-scheduled dates when they are available.

In the meantime if you are in need of healing prayer then Doncaster City Church would be happy to minister to you. Please call the church office on (03) 9840 7900 to arrange to meet or attend a special weekly healing meeting, 6pm Sunday at Unit 1, 600 Doncaster Road, Doncaster.

Don’t we all say it… ‘I can’t believe how the year has gone so fast’. Well here I go, I can’t believe how the year has flown by, and that this is our last magazine for 2009. I trust you have had a good year, and that while the year has come and gone, that you can look back and see spiritual growth and fruit in your life. I know for me, this year has had it’s joys and challenges– but I thank God for the work and growth He continues to do in my life.

I really am blessed as the senior pastor at Doncaster City Church, and want to so sincerely thank you for being such a wonderful church, for your love and support and for all those who have served the church so beautifully.

As we head towards the Christmas season, I want to take the time to encourage you and your families to join with us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. It has been so encouraging personally to see so many guests and visitors attend our annual Family Fun Day. I am trusting and praying that God will lead you to invite others. Also, we have for the first time our own Christmas Day service! While many of us are busy with family lunches, and unwrapping gifts what better way to spend Christmas morning than with your brothers and sisters in Christ celebrating the true joy of Christmas I trust that many of us will be able to take that one hour out of our Christmas Day and come together.

The exciting thing in church life is that there is no winding down at Christmas, while we all have a bit of a break over the Christmas period there is much to look forward to and to prepare for in the year ahead. It is a good thing that we are always looking ahead with great expectation of what God has in store for us. Those in the church office have been particularly busy planning ahead for what we want to accomplish and it is with a real sense of excitement that we look forward to 2010. I know nearly every minister has the cliché saying, that ‘next year is going to be the best one yet’. But I truly do believe that something really significant is going to happen next year in the life of DCC. I have had several visions from God, showing me how we have positioned ourselves for Him to do a great work through our church.

One day I was praying and focusing on the small beginnings we have experienced and God encouraged me with this vision. The vision was of a surfer paddling out to catch a wave, turning around looking for the wave and the Lord said to me that this is where our church is at. And I believe that what we are doing in these early days will prepare us for what is ahead. I have said many times what God said to me that Doncaster City Church will be known for signs, wonders and miracles. We have been walking towards that through the preaching and healing meetings held on Sunday nights.

I believe it is significant that early next year in February that we are hosting Curry Blake’s Divine Healing Conference with a healing rally. Followed by our bi-annual church camp where I believe we will continue to see what we have received at the Conference. The Curry Blake teaching has really given me strong foundations in really getting out there and doing the full Great Commission, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. It is with what I have received that I want everyone in our church to be a part of this, and that not one of you misses out on attending and hearing this life changing teaching.
