What We Believe
The world tells us that we live, we die, and that we should grab all we can get in this life, after all, it’s all we have. In contrast, the bible tells us that we are not accidents. That we were created by a loving God who knew us before we were born. We have great value and that we are here for a purpose, and that God loves us and wants to have a personal relationship with us.

God created you.
Psalm 139:13-16 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
God wants to have a personal relationship with you.
John 17:3 ‘Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.’
Why…because God loves you.
John 3:16 ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’
You can turn your life over to God’s control because he loves you and wants the very best for you. In fact he loves you so much that he gave his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for you.
Why did Jesus need to die for us?
Basically, our sin keeps us from having a personal relationship with God. Most people don’t understand the concept of sin. We live in a fairly amoral world that believes each person can decide what is right, what is true and what is ‘moral’- whatever that might mean. The bible says that ‘all have sinned and fall short of God’s righteous standard’ (Romans 3:23). The bible also says that sin ‘leads to death’ (Romans 6:23) and ‘cuts us off from God’ (Isaiah 59:2). God wants to have a relationship with us, but he can’t because of sin.
So what did God do?
God sent his Son, Jesus into the world to take the penalty our sins deserved.
1 Peter 3:18 ‘For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.’
Jesus did not only die for us, but he rose from the dead, which is a promise to us that we will also rise from the dead and go to heaven and be with him.
So what do you need to do next?
All that Jesus did means nothing unless a person accepts it for themselves. Even if a person grows up in church, they still need to accept Jesus personally into their own life. Or you may think, what if I have not got my life together? A person does not need to ‘clean up’ their life before coming to Jesus. In fact, that is why Jesus died to take away all the sin and guilt and give us a new start.
Romans 10:9-10 ‘That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.’
Would you like to accept Jesus as your saviour?
You simply need to believe in your heart. That does not mean you don’t have questions or that you understand everything. It simply means you recognise you are a sinner, and that you need a Saviour. You recognise it is not about being ‘good enough’, that God fully accepts and loves you because of Jesus.
If you would like to talk to God, you can pray something like this:
“Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from you. Thank you that Jesus Christ died in my place. I ask Jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life. Please begin to direct my life. Thank you for giving me eternal life. In Jesus name, Amen.”
That is it! You have given your life to Jesus, you are a Christian. (Click on I AM A NEW CHRISTIAN)
